Hungry for Change

Why You Don’t Need to Take a Calcium Supplement (For my mother-in-law, who does not use a computer)

Everyone is entitled to their own research and opinions…

Here are those of Dr. Raj and Dr. Carolyn Dean… both of which are medical doctors…

Dr. Carolyn says,

“People think they are lacking calcium, when really, they are lacking magnesium… the medical community is realizing that only 10% of a calcium supplement actually processes into the bones and the rest of it is distributed elsewhere in the body, which blocks arteries, etc.”

Her patients complain of heartburn, anxiety, depression and tension in the body… she suggests switching focus to magnesium, which can be found in the following food items:

  • yogurt
  • cheese
  • nuts and seeds
  • fish bones and bone soup (never had it!)

She says that cocoa powder is actually very potent with magnesium and if you’re craving chocolate, you may need more magnesium… just a thought, different from the typical recommendation to remove sugar from your diet…

Dr. Carolyn actually does recommend cutting out sugar for three days and says you will see your cravings subside… she also said that sugar cravings can be caused from yeast…

Here’s the yummy part… she recommends this smoothie:

  • raw cacao powder
  • coconut milk
  • a frozen banana

A Theo favorite!

Now, when Sean and I went on Dr. Junger’s Cleanse, it did not include bananas… there is a lot of sugar in bananas… good for cramps, not so much for fructose regulation… food for thought!
